UnitedHealthcare is offering a special, limited-time offer through which eligible enrollees with diabetes can receive a new, state-of-the-art blood glucose monitor - at no charge to you or your employees. This offer is good until December 31, 2004.
Under a unique arrangement with Johnson & Johnson and Roche - two leading manufacturers of glucose monitors - your diabetic enrollees currently using glucose test strips that are on Tier 3 of UnitedHealthcare's Prescription Drug List (PDL) have the opportunity to receive either J&J's LifeScan OneTouch Ultra System or Roche's Accu-chek Compact System at no cost. Both the LifeScan OneTouch and the Accu-chek Compact systems represent the latest, high-quality, state-of-the-art monitors available on the market today, and both are designed to help enrollees with diabetes check their blood sugar levels at regular intervals with confidence and ease.
Consumers who choose to use the Tier 2 glucose monitoring strips designed for the LifeScan One Touch or Accu-chek Compact systems may save money on future purchases of glucose test strips through lower copayments or coinsurance. In addition, the Tier 2 glucose test strips have a lower net ingredient cost.
Beginning August 16, 2004, letters will be mailed to enrollees currently using Tier 3 PDL glucose strips to make them aware of the offer. Consumers interested in receiving a new monitor can contact the manufacturer directly at the toll-free numbers or the manufacturer Web sites provided in the notification letter. Enrollees will also be advised to contact their physician to have him or her prescribe glucose monitor strips compatible with the monitoring system selected.
